, along with several other villages, aimed at “respecting public sentiment, Indian culture, and heritage.” There had been an ongoing desire to change their names for quite some time.

A villager named Devendra Singh Negi told ANI that the ambiance resembles celebrations such as Diwali or Holi. He mentioned this was something the villagers have desired for quite some time, and they had even proposed it to the former minister Yatishwaranand Swami in the past.

“He initiated contact with Pushkar Singh Dhami. Mr. Dhami was instrumental in getting the village renamed. The community commemorated this achievement with music from dhol drums, sharing sweet treats, and taking time off for festivities,” he mentioned additionally.

Chief Minister Dhami disclosed plans to rename several locations within the Haridwar, Dehradun, Nainital, and Udham Singh Nagar districts of the state.

On Tuesday, during an earlier discussion, Chief Minister Dhami addressed reporters regarding this choice, stating that renaming eleven locations across the state’s four districts was driven by respect for cultural values and local residents’ feelings.

“Location names should reflect cultural values, local sentiment, and Devbhoomi. The public has embraced this initiative,” stated Chief Minister Dhami.

The project seeks to motivate individuals by recognizing notable figures who have played a key role in safeguarding Indian heritage, as stated officially.

In the Haridwar district, Aurangzebpur will be renamed as Shivaji Nagar.

, from Chandpur to Jyotiba Phule Nagar, changing Mohammadpur Jat to Mohanpur Jat, renaming Khanpur Kursli as Ambedkar Nagar, transforming Indrishpur into Nandpur, converting Khanpur into Shri Krishna Pur, and redesignating Akbarpur Fazalpur as Vijayanagar, according to an announcement made by Chief Minister Dhami.
