The number of fatalities resulting from assaults carried out by assailants in certain areas within the Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State has increased to 52.

Farmasum Fuddang, the Chairperson of the Bokkos Cultural Development Council Vanguard, informed reporters in Jos on Friday about the recent developments. He mentioned that an additional 40 bodies were discovered on both Wednesday and Thursday night.

He mentioned that search and rescue teams were still scouring the shrubs for individuals who went missing.

Fuddang stated, “On Thursday, thirty-one individuals received a collective burial, while an additional five juvenile victims were cremated in Hurti village. In Ruwi village, eleven more people lost their lives, four persons were killed in Manguna, and one individual died in Dafo village.”

According to our reporter, armed attackers struck the villages of Mangor Tamiso, Daffo, Manguna (Tagai), Hurti, and Tadai within the Bokkos Local Government Area during the evening of April 2, 2025, resulting in the deaths of unarmed civilians.

In the meantime, the state government reported that several suspects have been apprehended in relation to the murders in the five communities.

The State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Joyce Ramnarine, disclosed this information in a statement.

The Plateau State Government has denounced the recent surge of violent incidents that occurred during the dawn hours of April 2, 2025, in the Manguna, Josho, and Daffo communities within the Bokkos Local Government Area. These attacks led to the destruction of several settlements and resulted in loss of life.

Significant apprehensions have been carried out by the authorities, which should ideally aid in curbing this distressing circumstance. We earnestly request the public to maintain composure and avoid enacting justice themselves.

Ramnap urged all citizens to stay alert and inform the appropriate security authorities about any unusual occurrences.
