Crystal Palace
are allegedly discussing an agreement with a former
Chelsea
star as they look to replace
Eberechi Eze
after his £67.5 million move to
Arsenal
.

The announcement of Eze’s transfer to the Emirates came out on Saturday,
with the palace receiving a club-best transfer fee for the forward who netted the decisive goal in last season’s FA Cup final.

Nevertheless, his exit has resulted in Oliver Glasner having limited attacking options, leaving him with only a week remaining in the summer transfer period to secure a new signing or two.

Bilal El Khannouss from Leicester City and Christos Tzolis of Club Brugge
Have been closely connected, but an unexpected name has recently appeared on the Eagles’ target list.

According to
News Shopper
Palace are highly keen on welcoming Conor Gallagher back to Selhurst Park, as his position at Atletico Madrid remains uncertain.

It’s an easy opportunity.

Gallagher had an outstanding temporary stint with Palace during the 2021/22 season, netting eight goals and providing five assists, earning him the title of Palace Player of the Year and receiving a nomination for PFA Young Player of the Year.

Expectations were high upon his return to parent club Chelsea, and although the team had difficulty maintaining their performance, the determined midfielder won over the fans and took on the role of captain during Mauricio Pochettino’s tenure.

He is also a consistent member of the England team and was included in the group that made it to the Euro 2024 championship match, yet Enzo Maresca and Todd Boehly remained unimpressed, leaving him out of the starting lineup and eventually selling him to Atlético Madrid for £34 million last summer.

A 25-year-old player had a solid first season with the Spanish club, contributing 10 goals and assists across 50 matches, though he was selected as a starter in just 19 La Liga fixtures.

He featured in Atletico’s first game of the season but was substituted at halftime, then came on as a substitute in their second match during the weekend. With the World Cup approaching, the England forward must gain consistent playing time.

It has been reported that preliminary discussions have occurred between the palace and Atletico regarding a temporary transfer, with Gallagher expressing willingness to return to South London.

Also mention that other Premier League teams, such as Tottenham, have shown interest in his talents, although it is more probable that he will stay in Madrid.

The palace is also considering adding more defense players as there is uncertainty about captain Marc Guehi, who is
wanted by Liverpool
and not under contract next summer.

Fabrizio Romano
states that the Eagles have officially joined the competition for Toulouse defender Jaydee Canvot, whose price tag is approximately £17 million, with Aston Villa also showing interest.

What has Oliver Glasner mentioned regarding substituting Eberechi Eze?

The stadium administrator Glasner has frequently voiced his dissatisfaction with the team’s transfer dealings during the current summer period, or more accurately, the absence of such activities.

However, following Sunday’s 1-1 match against Nottingham Forest, the Austrian indicated that Crystal Palace has pinpointed the players they intend to recruit ahead of transfer deadline day:

I will not discuss the players we require; it increases the cost.

We aim to remain competitive in the Premier League, European football, and domestic cups—and when one of your key players leaves, it’s evident that you need to find a replacement.

That’s exactly what we’re after, and I’m quite confident we’ll accomplish it since we’ve already identified the correct one.

‘Perhaps we can discover a player who is slightly superior in areas where Ebs has vulnerabilities, and perhaps less effective in regions where he excels, yet still demonstrates a similar overall profile. We need to locate such a player.’

‘We have already located some of them, and it’s now about getting them to South London.’
