Cosmos Trade Nigeria Limited has announced that they aim to enhance Nigeria’s tourism sector by focusing on food and beverage innovations via their training entity, known as the Gelato and Coffee University.

Mr. Demilola Olaniyi, Business Development Manager at Cosmos Trade Nigeria Limited, stated on Thursday during the firm’s Gelato and Coffee University training event that they have been designated as the 13th Carpigiani Gelato University globally. This certification presents an exceptional chance to boost tourism and support budding business owners within the food and drink sector.

“I view this as a significant positive development for Lagos State, Nigeria, and the global community, primarily because it can enhance our local tourism offerings and attract considerable attention to both our state and nation,” he stated during the exhibition event in Lagos.

Olaniyi states that Cosmos Trade Nigeria Limited established a training center to address a void in the hospitality industry by offering practical instruction in coffee and gelato making for individuals at all skill levels, from novices to experts.

“We recognized that there’s a void in the marketplace. Many individuals wish to join the food and beverage sector but aren’t sure how to proceed with it, which led us to create this offering,” he commented.

“Whether you aspire to be a barista or a gelato chef, you can educate yourself in these areas and thrive within this sector. The food and beverage industry holds significant importance in Nigeria, and countless opportunities await those who seize them,” he mentioned additionally.

Olaniyi revealed that the institution provides comprehensive training programs lasting between three days and two weeks, which include foundational, intermediary, and advanced stages. Additionally, he mentioned that these courses come at a lower cost than comparable offerings in Europe or America.

“This campus serves not just the people of Nigeria but the entire continent of Africa, and even extends to the Middle East,” he remarked.

According to Olaniyi, Cosmos Trade supplies equipment and raw materials for producing gelato, tea, and coffee. The company is also recognized as the innovator behind introducing an office coffee vending system in Nigeria.

“We offer hot drink dispensing systems along with all necessary supplies and technical assistance for these machines. We anticipate this service expanding, as there is significant growth potential within this sector,” stated the business development manager.

Mrs. Olivia Okeke, who operates Milk and Honey by Livvy’s Twist, a café located in Lagos and is also a client of Cosmos Trade Nigeria, commended the firm for its exceptional after-sales service and superior product quality.

“They offer great customer service. Last year we bought our initial unit, which has performed wonderfully, leading me to purchase an additional one just last week,” she mentioned.

Mrs. Okeke praised the company for their dependability, mentioning, “Although they were not inexpensive, they are absolutely worth every naira spent. The equipment has performed exceptionally well; I haven’t encountered even a single problem.”

Additionally, Mr. Osagie Anthony, who is a student at the Gelato and Coffee University, voiced his hopefulness regarding the new prospects this training has created for his enterprise.

“I’ve learned about the origins of gelato, how to balance ingredients, and how to develop recipes from scratch. The course also delved into the business aspects and introduced us to the newest technologies,” Anthony mentioned.

He mentioned that his firm, which is currently involved in food, juice, and ice cream production, plans to venture into gelato as a way to strengthen its position both locally and internationally.

Moreover, the Business Development Manager at Cosmos Trade Nigeria advocated for increased cooperation with governmental bodies, educational institutions, and nonprofit organizations to broaden the university’s influence and reinforce Nigeria’s stance as a prominent culinary tourism hub.

“We collaborate with the government, yet it would be great if we could engage further with them. My aim is to form an alliance with the Bank of Industry. We could incorporate this into our tourism offerings and raise awareness about our state,” he stated.
