CONCEPCION, Tarlac – On Thursday, a recently built governmental complex in Barangay Alfonso of this municipality was officially opened. The facility will function as the new municipal hall and also accommodate various government departments.

Governor Susan Yap and Concepcion Mayor Noel Villanueva were present at the inauguration alongside Representatives Noel Rivera (representing the third district) and Christian Yap (for the second district). Also in attendance was a delegation from the League of Municipalities led by Moncada Mayor Estelita Aquino.

Villanueva stated that the P540 million facility within the extensive 7,200-square-meter area is a contemporary two-story structure aimed at ushering in a new phase of governance. This center will enable citizens to access various services offered by the local government unit.

The expense covered P42.5 million for acquiring the land from the descendants of a certain Don Alfredo de Leon.

After breaking ground on October 4, 2023, donations for the project included funds from various offices: President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., via House Speaker Martin Romualdez, contributed ₱75 million; Senator Joel Villanueva donated ₱20 million, Senator Bong Go provided ₱10 million, Senator JV Ejercito gave another ₱10 million, and Senator Lito Lapid offered ₱25 million. Additionally, Governor Yap added ₱30 million, Representative Rivera chipped in with ₱50 million, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez also gifted some elevators.

Villanueva mentioned that moving to the new structure signifies a significant transition away from the century-old municipal building built back in 1929. This outdated municipal facility, which holds historical importance, has for years failed to accommodate the growing needs of the community’s populace.

It will be transformed into a museum based on recommendations from the National Historical Commission of the Philippines.

Therefore, the new establishment was crafted to meet the expanding requirements of Concepcion’s municipal functions, offering sufficient room for staff members and guaranteeing more efficient dealings for citizens accessing governmental assistance.

Yap praised the initiative as evidence of Concepcion’s commitment to progress and forward-thinking vision.

The governmental hub will likewise feature branch locations for various national entities such as the Social Security System office, Government Service Insurance System outpost, Commission on Audit facility, and the Commission on Elections site.
