Celtic has employed independent safety experts to investigate spectator concerns regarding the policing of the most recent Old Firm match.

Previously, the club mentioned that they had received grievances from fans regarding occurrences outside the stadium on March 16th and stated their intention to review these concerns.

Before the event, officers were endowed with extraordinary authorities permitting them to detain spectators who appeared to be under “reasonable suspicion” of criminal activity.

On the following day, 90 supporters were prohibited from entering Celtic Park because they declined to undergo search procedures conducted by law enforcement.

Celtic expressed their desire to talk with Police Scotland following the Scottish Premiership match.

It was the first event where away fans were present since 2023 due to a ticket disagreement among the Glasgow teams.

The force justified the utilization of their authorities under
Part 60 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994
This resulted in the searches and detentions.

A considerable amount of fireworks were confiscated during the operation.

Chief Superintendent Stevie Dolan, who headed the police operation, expressed gratitude to most of the fans for maintaining proper behavior and stated that the checks were conducted appropriately.

He noted that it was essential to implement containment strategies to ensure public safety and efficiently manage individuals who were determined to cause disruptions or disregard applicable laws.

Celtic has now confirmed their hiring of an assistant.
Fairhurst, a UK-wide firm
This provides advisory services for health and safety measures in building constructions and organizational gatherings.

The clubโ€™s announcement stated that the company will โ€œgather and assess the input regarding fan experiences collected by the club.โ€

The statement further noted: “Fairhurst will provide an opportunity for those who were present and havenโ€™t yet shared their input regarding the events to do so.”

Ensuring the safety of our supporters remains our top priority.

Inside Celtic Park, we collaborate closely with Police Scotland, the Scottish Ambulance Service, and various public agencies to guarantee the security and well-being of both our supporters and all other attendees at the venue.

The club acknowledged that “numerous fans” have expressed worries regarding the events of that day.

The statement went on to say: “Every supporter ought to experience safety when going to โ€” as well as traveling for โ€” football games.”

Similar to how fans should act safely and responsibly within and around stadiums, they should also always feel assured that they will be treated justly.

Celtic stated they will engage with fans, fan organizations, clubs, and the national authority to gain insight into these incidents.

The police force of Scotland has been asked for their input.
