Burgas, April 7 (BTA/GNA) — The divers in Burgas have thoroughly documented several intriguing submerged locations along the southern coastline of the Black Sea, according to an announcement made by the non-profit organization Friends of the Sea – Burgas on Monday.

The comprehensive online map, marking the first such resource for Bulgaria, encompasses the aquatic region extending from Nessebar to the town of Rezovo. This map highlights 28 of the country’s premier dive locations, catering specifically to aficionados of underwater activities. Additionally, volunteers associated with Friends of the Sea – Burgas have installed around 25 informational signs at various points; several of these markers provide details and maps covering multiple diving spots.

The map includes details about the diving centers located along the southern coastline of the Black Sea. The nonprofit organization mentioned they will continue updating the map with data on additional dive locations.

The present map encompasses various sites including the Kamenna Gora close to Sozopol, the submerged chapel dedicated to Saint Anastasia, the statue of the saint located near St Anastasia Island, as well as the sunken vessels Mopang, Pioner, and Rodina, alongside the wrecks known as Jacques Fraissinet and St Nikola.

The project was carried out with significant involvement from divers Dr Stefan Mirinchev, Nikolay Zhelev, Stoyan Dimitrov, Yonko Dimitrov, and Pavel Mirinchev. This endeavor, supported financially by Friends of the Sea – Burgas, seeks to safeguard the coastline and promote diving within the area.
