On Friday morning, we will formally declare it as a federal issue.

for May 3.

The Prime Minister has journeyed to Government House to have a meeting with Governor-General Sam Mostyn before formally announcing the election date.

The Prime Minister left for her residence in Canberra around 7 am to request the dissolution of parliament. She has since headed towards Parliament House, where she will announce the calling of an election.

It is known that Australians will head to the polling stations on May 3, allowing Mr. Albanese and the Opposition Leader to compete for votes.

five weeks to sway voters.

Mr Albanese greeted journalists with a wave as he was met with an enthusiastic reception outside Ms Mostyn’s residence early on Friday.

The significant electoral development comes as a surprising poll was released, indicating that Australians feel they have been worse off over the past three years under the Labor government.

Recent polls indicated that Labor leads the election campaign over the Coalition in terms of two-party preferred voting at 51 to 49 percent.

Nonetheless, according to a recent Redbridge survey featured on news.com.au, just 29 percent of voters were able to identify anything the federal government has accomplished since Mr. Albanese took office that had “positively impacted their lives in some manner.”

As many as 54 percent of the 2,039 Australians surveyed were unable to identify even one policy that had positively affected their daily lives.

Among every three voters capable of identifying something positive, 36 percent stated that the contentious energy rebate implemented by the government had enhanced their quality of life.

on Thursday night.

Although an official election announcement has not been made, Mr. Albanese shared a ‘highlight reel’ of significant moments during his tenure as Prime Minister via social media on Thursday evening.

“I aim to create an Australia where nobody is hindered and nobody is abandoned,” he captioned the video.

As the Prime Minister, I have dedicated each day to turning this into reality. I will continue to advocate for your interests.

There has been widespread speculation about when the formal announcement would be made, which only intensified after Mr. Albanese’s office jumped the gun prematurely.

Earlier on Thursday, the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet released an official social media statement announcing that the government had entered ‘caretaker’ mode.

The tweet on X was quickly removed once the mistake was noticed.

Later, First Assistant Secretary Andrew Walter issued an apology for the error.

‘It’s clear that this is a mistake, and we apologize for it,’ he stated.

It remained active for about four minutes. I noticed it roughly nine minutes earlier, and my team is currently investigating how this happened.

I can confirm that we are definitely not in caretaker mode.

On Thursday, during media appearances, the Prime Minister was still unclear.

“I can guarantee you that it will be announced very soon,” Mr Albanese said to Triple M Hobart.

I wonโ€™t label it right now, but Iโ€™ll do so shortly. I believe that Australians are eager to move forward.

Mr Albanese stated that his colleagues are eager to join the campaign following the Coalitionโ€™s announcement that they had voted against the government’s tax cuts and intended to revoke them.

Earlier this month, the Prime Minister was scheduled to

, but that plan was disrupted by Cyclone Alfred.

As early voting and mail-in ballots have become a significant aspect of elections, many Australians will be able to cast their votes slightly more than two weeks before the actual election day.

For most of the past year, polls have shown the Coalition either level with or slightly ahead of Labor, although their advantage has not always been substantial.

That, and the reality that it has been nearly 100 years since an Australian government was
ousted following a single term in office
, has put Labor as the frontrunners according to the bookmakers for victory.

A high-ranking minister from the Labor Party stated to Nine newspapers that Mr. Albanese believes the government has a strong chance of retaining control.

“If we begin the campaign with a 50-50 split in opinion polls, that could be enough to secure a majority for the government,” Mr Albanese supposedly stated.

“We believe thereโ€™s a possibility that everything could unravel entirely for them,” the source stated.

During his budget response address, Mr. Dutton unveiled a significant initiative aimed at alleviating the financial burden for millions of Australians struggling with everyday expenses.

“The Coalition is dedicated to assisting both families and businesses while also easing the financial pressures being experienced nationwide at present,” stated Mr Dutton to Daily Mail Australia.

If the Coalition secures victory in next month’s election, he will assume office as Australia’s 32nd prime minister.
