President William embarked on a victorious visit to the Mt Kenya area this week, undertaking his inaugural developmental tour in more than half a year following the impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachgua.

Rutoโ€™s visit occurred during a period when Gachunga was busy forging alliances with previous political adversaries as they gear up for the 2027 elections.

Despite rumors of an agitated populace, Ruto was met with enthusiasm across every region he toured and took time to speak with the locals.

The Head of State, along with his Deputy Kithure Kindiki and various elected officials, visited seven counties where they launched new initiatives, monitored ongoing projects, and inaugurated finished endeavors.

The tour focused on infrastructure including roads, electricity, water supply, and healthcare initiatives in the area.

Recently, Ruto mentioned that the government has allocated funds to finish the halted road projects throughout the nation, including the Mau Mau Road which traverses through the counties surrounding Mount Kenya.

On Monday, he reached the Sagana State Lodge and subsequently conducted a live interview with local-language radio stations in the area during the evening.


April 1 (Tuesday)

He started his tour in Laikipia by inaugurating a classroom building at Ng’arachi Comprehensive School, which was then followed by launching the last-mile connectivity initiative in the region.

The government is allocating KSh1.12 billion to link up 9, 000 homes in the county.

In order to ease students’ return to school, Ruto mentioned that they have allocated KSh200 million for the refurbishment of nine local institutions. These schools encompass Ng’arachi, Kirima, Mahua, Muteta, Thigio, Gatarima, Mwenje, Nyakinyua, and Milimani primary schools.

April 2 (Wednesday)

During his speech, Ruto announced that an extra Sh400 million would be allocated to increase the total number of houses connected to electricity to 11,000.


April 3 (Thursday)

He began with a breakfast gathering that assembled women from Mathira at the Sagana State Lodge.

He subsequently traveled to Nyandarua, where he examined the progress of the construction at the J.M Kariuki memorial hospital. He also launched the final phase of connectivity in Ol Kalau town and reviewed the development of an affordable housing initiative.

He declared that the federal government will provide Sh800 million for the finishing touches on the 142-bed hospital.

Ruto not only initiated the groundwork for building the contemporary Engineers Market in Kinangop but also inspected the North Kinangop Affordable Housing Project.

In Murang’a County, he examined the progress of the Kahia irrigation initiative spanning 1,600 acres.

It is anticipated to produce an annual output of Sh720 million, leading to the creation of as many as 6,000 jobs.

In the later part of the evening, Ruto found himself in Naivasha attending the second Mashariki Cooperation Conference, an event that gathered more than 60 intelligence and security agencies from various parts of Africa and the globe.


April 4 (Friday)

In Embu, he initiated the start of the construction for the intake facility, the water treatment plant, along with the installation of 26 kilometers of pipelines as part of the Kamburu Dam Water Supply Project.

Ruto stated that following a 50-year anticipation for advantages from governmental reservoirs located within their territories, the residents of Mbeere South can now rejoice as they are finally seeing benefits.

After completion, he said, this initiative costing Ksh789 million will provide safe drinking water to 88,000 inhabitants and enhance agricultural output via irrigation.

Next, he moved to Tharaka Nithi County, inaugurating a tutorial facility at Tharaka Nithi University. He also inspected the Sh60 million Gatunga ESP market project designed for up to 200 vendors and visited the Sh112 million Chogoria market site.

He subsequently ended his visit by examining the 60-unit affordable housing initiative for the police in Chuka town and also toured the ESP market in the same town prior to speaking with local residents.
