On September 25, 2023, a scientific study was published in the journal
Nature Geoscience
, completely upturned the estimates about the future of our dear Earth.

The global research team reported that in 250 million years, our planet will face extremely high temperatures rendering human survival unfeasible, as stated on the website.

While former predictions placed this catastrophic event billions of years into the future, recent findings indicate that these climate conditions will turn uninhabitable far sooner than anticipated.

The worldwide climate has undergone significant changes.

As per the researchers, in 250 million years, a new supercontinent referred to as

Pangaea Ultima

Will occur due to the merging of tectonic platesโ€”a process well-known to our planetโ€”resulting in significant alterations to the global climate. When these continental collisions take place, they greatly affect oceanic and atmospheric circulation patterns, inevitably leading to higher temperatures. The increase in atmospheric CO2 levels, coupled with heightened volcanic activity, decreases the number of oceans able to absorb greenhouse gases, further exacerbating dramatic climatic shifts.

As
Swigg
reports,
The blend of extreme heat and overwhelming moisture will produce conditions under which the existence of mammals, such as humans, will be nearly unviable.
Based on scientific findings, 92% of terrestrial areas will become uninhabitable due to an inability to regulate body temperature through sweating. This effect has already manifested as severe heatwaves in certain parts of the globe affected by ongoing climate shifts. The physiological boundaries are starting to be exceeded particularly in the Middle East and South Asia, where temperatures have surpassed 50ยฐC.

Humans, powerless

Although the assembly and disassembly of supercontinents adhere to a natural cycle measured in hundreds of millions of years, this instance might involve significantly harsher climate conditions compared to those experienced during prior consolidations.

From a human perspective, this far-off deadline may not seem significant, yet it underscores the continuous transformation of the Earth and its climate. It also highlights the considerable natural disruptions our planet experiences, against which humanity remains helpless.
