Faye Hall states that Afghan women imprisoned by the Taliban view the U.S. President as their ‘rescuer’ and are anticipating his intervention to liberate them as well.

A U.S. woman who was released from captivity by the Taliban in Afghanistan marked her liberation with a video posted on Saturday by President Donald Trump, where she expressed gratitude to him for assisting in securing her freedom.

A video posted on Trump’s Truth Social account shows Faye Hall smiling and appearing healthy as she says, “Thanks for bringing me home.”

On February 1, Hall, along with a British couple and their Afghan interpreter, was held while traveling to the central Bamiyan province.

Zalmay Khalilzad, who previously served as Washington’s representative in Kabul, stated that Hall was under the Qataris’ responsibility within the delegation in Kabul.

“American national Faye Hall, recently freed by the Taliban, is currently under the guardianship of our allies, the Qataris in Kabul, and will shortly be returning to her homeland,” noted Khalizad, who has been involved as part of a U.S. team focused on securing the release of hostages from the Taliban, via his social media post.

At the Qatari embassy, Hall has been verified as being in good health following a battery of medical examinations, said an individual familiar with the matter.

Following a court order, she was freed on Thursday, with logistical assistance provided by Qatar, the source mentioned additionally.

The video shared via Trumpโ€™s account featured Hall expressing her pride in being an American citizen and calling for support for Afghan women detained in Taliban prisons.

โ€œThank you, Mr. President,โ€ she said. โ€œI wanted to let you know that all the women in the Afghan prison often ask me, โ€˜When will Trump arrive?โ€™ For them, you really seem like their rescuer. Theyโ€™re eagerly awaiting your arrival to liberate them.โ€

In the caption of the video, Trump stated: “Thanks Faye โ€“ I am deeply honored by your kind words!”

The individual named Hall, recognized by the Taliban’s interior ministry as being of Chinese-American descent, was apprehended alongside Peter and Barbie Reynoldsโ€”both octogenariansโ€”as they journeyed to the residence of the British couple located in central Bamiyan province. The group included an Afghan interpreter who was also taken into custody.

Taliban authorities have declined to provide specifics regarding the detention, yet one account suggests that Hall was apprehended due to allegations of operating a drone without permission.

Khalilzad had visited Afghanistanโ€™s capital earlier that month during an uncommon trip by U.S. officials to meet with Taliban leaders, alongside U.S. special representative for hostage affairs Adam Boehler.

After their meeting, the Taliban regime declared the liberation of American national George Glezmann following over two years of imprisonment, as part of an agreement facilitated by Qatar.

He and Hall are amongst multiple U.S. citizens who have been freed from Taliban detention this year.

In January, two American citizens held in Afghanistan – Ryan Corbett and William McKenty – were released after the transfer of Khan Mohammed, an Afghan fighter, to US custody. Khan Mohammed had been sentenced for narco-terrorism in the United States.

Another U.S. citizen, named Mahmood Habibri, remains detained in Afghanistan.

The British pair arrested alongside Hall continue to be held by the Taliban.

Their daughter has voiced serious concerns about her father’s well-being and pleaded with the Taliban leadership to release them.

The Reynolds got married in Kabul back in 1970 and have been running educational training programs in the nation for 18 years.

After the Taliban took control of Afghanistan in 2021 and the British embassy pulled out its personnel, they stayed behind.

The administration in Kabul does not receive recognition from any nation; however, multiple countries such as Russia, China, and Turkey have maintained their embassy operations in the city of Kabul, Afghanistan.

Similarly, Qatar has kept open communication lines with the Taliban and has helped mediate the release of American hostages.

Following Trump’s re-election, the Kabul administration has voiced aspirations for a “fresh page” in relations with Washington.
