Why PDP Secretary Hails Tinubu and Wike in Bayelsa’s International Edition

George Turnah, the Zonal Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in South-South and organizer of the Bayelsa Mega Rally supporting President Bola Tinubu and Minister Nyesom Wike, has clarified why Bayelsa serves as an excellent location to honor both figures.

Turnah stated that the scheduled rally organized by the New Associate group does not signify support for President Tinubu seeking a second term.

The New Associate group is allegedly part of the PDP faction that remains faithful to the previous governor.

On Tuesday, April 1, 2025, during an appearance on Arise Television’s ‘The Morning Show,’ the PDM representative mentioned that alongside the planned rally, they intend to express their gratitude and honor Governor Wike and President Tinubu for including several distinguished natives of Bayelsa State in their cabinet.

“Why are we holding the rally in Bayelsa? As a grassroots organization, The New Associate aims to launch the Bayelsa State chapter. Additionally, we plan to organize this gathering as a token of gratitude towards Mr. President for appointing several distinguished natives of Bayelsa State who have been excelling in their respective roles according to our assessment,” he clarified.

Remember that Governor Duoye Diri of Bayelsa State has recently
cautioned them about the group’s strategy
To arrange a rally or have Wike visit his state.

Amidst the recent political turmoil in neighboring Rivers State, the governor stated that the proposed rally is an attempt by a ‘rogue PDP member’ to disturb the harmony within his state.

As you know, we face threats from our neighboring state. The political turmoil there poses a risk to us, and we won’t let what’s occurring there affect Bayelsa State.

“Efforts to bring the political turmoil from Rivers State into Bayelsa will face resistance. I advise our security leaders to stay vigilant. Additionally, parents and tribal authorities must counsel their offspring against allowing themselves to be exploited by dishonest individuals who seek to create unrest within the state,” cautioned Governor Diri.

Even though the governor issued a caution, Turnah stated that the rally would proceed within the state, albeit not on any land owned by the Bayelsa State Government.
