Both squads had already revealed their starting formations, with the athletes proceeding to warm up, when Barcelona later announced through the stadium loudspeakers that the match would be delayed.

“FC Barcelona mournfully announces the death of team physician Dr. Carles Minarro Garcia tonight,” the club stated.

As a result, the game between FC Barcelona and CA Osasuna has been rescheduled for another day.

The FC Barcelona Board of Directors along with all employees offer our sincere sympathies to his loved ones and close friends during this challenging period.

A little more than a week following the delay, Spain’s football federation stated that the match between Barcelona and Osasuna was set for March 27.

Given that it’s during the international break and players are gradually returning to their clubs, the scheduling seems somewhat peculiar. Originally, La Liga was scheduled to restart on March 29.

Why is Barcelona playing Osasuna during the international break?

Barcelona has to play against Osasuna in their rearranged La Liga game tonight as both teams’ requests to cancel the match were turned down by the Spanish football federation.

Barcelona contested this because at least six of their players, notably South Americans Raphinha and Ronald Araujo, wouldn’t get sufficient downtime following their commitments with their national teams.

In the meantime, Osasuna lodged an appeal as they had another match scheduled just two days later against Athletic Club.

Even though Barcelona and Osasuna suggested alternative dates, their proposals were turned down. Instead, La Liga rescheduled Osasuna’s match against Athletic for March 30.
