West Ham’s Vladimir Coufal Discloses “Substantial” Fulham Bid and Addresses Everton Transfer Rumors

West Ham
defender
Vladimir Coufal
has spoken about transfer interests from
Everton
and disclosed information about how
Fulham
attempted to sign him when he was competing on the final day of transfers.

Since signing with West Ham from Manchester United last summer, Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s strong performance has reduced Coufal’s playing time this season. So far, he has only started in eight Premier League matches.

Last month, on the final day of transfers, Fulham urgently attempted to sign a new right-back due to Kenny Tete’s injury. Their efforts to acquire Coufal faced complications since he had already played for 72 minutes earlier that day.

“I’m conflicted about everything because West Ham wouldn’t allow me to move to Fulham on transfer deadline day. Many might not be aware of this,” he told Czech daily newspaper Mladá fronta Dnes during an interview.

After the game against Chelsea in the changing room, I check my phone and see four missed calls from my agent along with a message saying ‘Reach out to me right away’.

The 32-year-old Czech national team player shared: “Fulham presented excellent terms. Karol [Kisel, Coufal’s representative] inquired, ‘Are you interested?’ I responded, ‘Why not, since there’s no opportunity at West Ham?'”

Despite this, The Hammers did not approve of his departure, a sentiment that seemed to frustrate Coufal according to his comments.

“I’ll be turning 33, and for me, it made sense to make this move even though I adore West Ham and had envisioned possibly ending my career there,” he stated.

“As for Fulham, I would stay in the Premier League and even in London. We really like it there. My son has started playing in the West Ham academy and is doing better than I expected.

“My daughter will be going to school next year. How do I explain to them that we are moving to a completely different place? That is why I need to hear from West Ham so that I can consider what to do next.”

Coufal – whose current contract at the London Stadium expires at the end of the season – has been linked with Everton of late, where his former West Ham manager David Moyes is now the head coach.

“When I have spare time, anything could occur,” he commented about a possible summer transfer to Merseyside.
