Leaders from throughout Europe convened in Paris on Thursday to explore methods of bolstering Kyiv’s stance in the current round of truce talks with Russia.
Organized by French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace, the summit gathered around 30 nations along with representatives from NATO and the EU.
These discussions occur during a crucial juncture in the three-year-old dispute, with diplomatic initiatives gaining traction due to U.S. President Donald Trump’s urging. A major point of discussion involved a suggestion to send European forces to Ukraine as an element of any possible truce deal.
As Ukraine pursues increased military and diplomatic backing, talks centered on security assurances, possible plans for deploying troops, and Europe’s part in maintaining a long-term truce.
