Treat patients as humans, health minister charges medical personnel

Healthcare providers have been advised to prioritize delivering high-quality medical care to patients and ensure they are treated with respect.

Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, made this statement during his inspection tour at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Asaba. He stressed that patient care must include compassion and avoid offering unjustified reasons for inadequate service.

If professionals lack the appropriate mindset, they won’t be capable of providing top-notch services.

You need to deliver high-quality healthcare services to patients and greet them every time they visit for medical assistance. It is more important for us to treat patients as individuals with compassion rather than just focusing on constructing facilities,” said the Minister.

Dr. Salako, welcomed by the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of FMC Asaba, Dr. Victor Osiatuma, highlighted the federal government’s dedication to hiring additional staff to alleviate the heavy workload on healthcare workers and increase financial support for the health sector to improve overall services.

Elderly care needs improvement and should be emphasized within families. The introduction of school dental visits has been recommended by the Directorate of Dental Services as urged by NDA to the government of Oyo State. On World Kidney Day, an expert advises checking the health of your kidneys.

He guaranteed that the Federal Government would keep supporting healthcare facilities nationwide for the well-being of every citizen.

“The government will ensure your welfare, provide the necessary equipment for your work, and create an enabling environment to deliver quality healthcare services to the people,” he said.
