Leading the list was lechona, a classic Colombian cuisine featuring a fully roasted pig filled with an assortment of ingredients like onions, peas, fresh herbs, and spices.
Scored 4.78 out of five on the site, this dish is commonly prepared for festivities as a single roasted pig can yield over 100 portions at times.
However, travelers might also stumble upon Colombian cuisine at certain eateries in bigger urban areas, as mentioned in the guide.
Coming in at second place was Neapolitan pizza. This traditional Italian delicacy typically features a fairly thin base, except for the edges, which puff up into small tire-like rims when cooked.
It is meticulously prepared using a wood-fired brick oven and comes in two traditional varieties: Marinara (featuring tomato, garlic, oregano, and oil), and the more renowned Margherita (which includes tomato, mozzarella, oil, and fresh basil).
According to tradition, the Margherita pizza was invented in 1889 by a nearby chef for Italy’s Queen Margherita during her visit to the city. The colors of this dish mirror those of the Italian flag: red, white, and green.
Meanwhile, Picanha secured the third position, as this Brazilian delicacy denotes a succulent piece of beef sourced from a particular section of the cow and typically cooked over an open flame.
Up next, the guide showcased Rechta, a traditional Algerian flat noodle dish typically paired with savory chicken sauce. This meal is commonly served during weddings because it’s considered festive food.
Fifth place went to Thai panang curry, typically made with beef, chicken, duck, or pork, usually served sans any veggies in the sauce.
Unlike many Thai curries which have a lot of broth, Panang offers a milder sauce that is thick, combining richness, sweetness, saltiness, and nuttiness, along with a slight spiciness from ingredients like cumin, coriander, and nutmeg.
A barbecue claimed the sixth spot in the guide, with the term alluding to both a method of preparing food and a communal gathering at various locations across several South American nations.
Often compared to a barbecue, this event brings together family and friends. The cooking takes place outdoors using a traditional brick-made grill known as a parrilla, where beef, pork, chicken, and chorizo are prepared.
Çökertme kebabı – a traditional Turkish dish consisting of marinated veal slices, crispy fries, tomato sauce, and yogurt – claimed the seventh spot in the ultimate guide.
In the meantime, the eighth spot was taken by rawon, an Indonesian beef soup famous for its dark coloration due to the spices used in it.
The ninth spot was awarded to Cağ kebabı, a traditional meal believed to hail from the Erzurum Province in Turkey.
The lamb is soaked in an onion blend for a minimum of 24 hours before being threaded onto a skewer and cooked over an open flame to create this tasty dish.
Taking the tenth position was tibs — an iconic Ethiopian cuisine featuring sautéed meat and veggies bathed in a flavorful sauce.
