The 41st Shinhan Donghae Open: Prize Pool Soars to 1.5 Billion Won

Shinhan Financial Group disclosed on the 18th that it plans to host the 41st Shinhan Donghae Open at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea, situated in Songdo, Incheon, over four days starting from the 11th through the 14th of next month.

The Shinhan Donghae Open originated in 1981 through the efforts of Korean-Japanese golf club members, with the late Shinhan Bank Honorary Chairman Lee Hee-gun at the forefront, aiming to develop top talent within their respective nations. The tournament is co-organized by the KPGA Tour, Asian Tour, and JGTO Tour.

For the first time in 11 years since 2014, the gathering will take place at the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea.

The overall prize pool this year has risen by 100 million won compared to last year, reaching 1.5 billion won (including 270 million won in prizes), enhancing its reputation and appeal as a global event attracting elite Asian athletes. The battle among participants for the title is anticipated to be more intense.

Furthermore, Yoo Min-hyuk (Seogang High School 2), who earned his spot by securing victory in two back-to-back matches at the “2nd Shinhan Donghae Men’s Amateur Golf Championship” conducted last month, will compete as a representative of amateur players.

The chairman of Shinhan Financial Group, Jin Ok-dong, chose a location featuring the finest championship course in South Korea and raised the overall prize fund to create an ideal setting where competitors can showcase their abilities at their peak. “Shinhan Financial Group will actively back the Shinhan Donghae Open to establish it as a premier event driving the growth of Asian golf and nurturing top-tier talent,” he stated.

Tickets for the Shinhan Donghae Open can be purchased through the official ticketing platform ‘etgetolf’ via the internet, with availability also found on the popular golf ticket website ‘GolfTicket’. Customers who use Shinhan Card and residents of Incheon will get a 50% reduction in price, while individuals younger than 18 years old will have free entry.
