Stellantis to Resume Hemi Engine Production in 2023: Report

The production plan apparently encompasses a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 engine.

However, a recent report indicates that Stellantis is preparing to manufacture additional Hemi V-8 engines.

According to anonymous sources, Stellantis plans to commence production of 5.7-liter, 6.4-liter, and supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V-8 engines shortly at its Dundee Engine Plant located in Michigan, south-west of Detroit. An earlier report from December, following Carlos Tavares’ resignation during that same month, suggested that numerous individuals inside Stellantis held this view.

Apparently, it was Tavares who pushed for phasing out the Hemi, but with him leaving, the engine seems poised to make a strong comeback. The report indicates that Stellantis plans to develop these engines based on the Gen III platform introduced in 2003. Additionally, there are speculations circulating about the company introducing an even bigger displacement version into their range.
