EXPLORE FURTHER: Researchers Unveil New Insights into Structures Beneath the Pyramid
Researchers aiming to confirm that a ‘huge metropolis’ lies over 4,000 feet beneath the surface.
Egypt
The Giza Pyramids have published a new analysis claiming their findings have been proven accurate.
The team last week
Italy
unveiled groundbreaking research that purported to have
found multi-thousand-foot-deep wells and chambers
under the Khafre Pyramid.
If accurate, this finding could upend Egyptian—and human—history; however, independent experts claim the discovery is ‘entirely incorrect’ and lacks any scientific foundation.
The researchers stated that they achieved a confidence level exceeding 85 percent in identifying structures underneath the Pyramid of Khafre, as well as under other pyramids.

,’ exist.
The wells and chambers were located by directing ‘high-frequency electromagnetic waves’ into the underground area; the manner in which these signals reflected back enabled scientists to deduce their presence.

The group employed a customized algorithm to analyze the data and generate images depicting structures resembling wells with spiraling patterns that led to vast caverns.
They compared the designs with recognized architectural styles, particularly those available to us now like the Pozzo di San Patrizio in Italy, according to Niccole Ciccole, who spoke to LIFEHACK on behalf of the project.
Lawrence Conyers, a radar specialist from the University of Denver with expertise in archaeology and unaffiliated with this particular research, commented: “For establishing reliable correlations, you must have something to relate it to or for comparison purposes.”
What could this be here? Without that, these percentages lack scientific significance.
Nevertheless, Professor Conyers proposed that it is possible small features like shafts and chambers could be located underneath the pyramids. These structures might have predated the construction of the pyramids since the location held significance for ancient peoples.
He pointed out that the Maya and other ancient cultures in Mesoamerica frequently constructed pyramids over the openings of caves or caverns which held ceremonial importance for them.
The team asserted that they discovered eight wells along with two massive enclosures situated over 2,000 feet beneath the foundation of the Khafre pyramid and an extensive concealed realm of numerous structures even deeper, approximately another 2,000 feet lower.
“I have my doubts about the more profound assertions. Should their ‘algorithms’ indeed perform as claimed (and I cannot speak to that), there might be some validity to this,” stated Professor Conyers.
A ‘shaft’ or ‘passageway’ is what I anticipate finding beneath a pyramid.
The research conducted by Corrado Malanga from the University of Pisa in Italy, Filippo Biondi from the University of Strathclyde in Scotland, along with Egyptologist Armando Mei has not been submitted for publication in a peer-reviewed academic journal as of yet.
The group forwarded the analysis to LIFEHACK, who responded by stating ‘additional confirmation is advised via extra tomographic imaging and on-site validation.’
To find out if anything was
concealed beneath the Pyramid of Khafre
, they directed high-frequency waves (akin to radar functionality) into the earth under the pyramid.
Whenever waves hit an object beneath the water’s surface, they reflected back up. By examining changes in the wave frequencies, researchers were able to determine the types of substances present underneath.
However, Dr Zahi Hawass, Egypt’s former minister of antiquities, told The National: ‘The claim of using radar inside the pyramid is false, and the techniques employed are neither scientifically approved nor validated.’
While the team has great admiration for Egyptologists, they stated that their discoveries stem from objective measurements acquired via sophisticated radar signal processing techniques.
Once the data was collected, scientists employed a specific algorithm to transform this information into vertical visual representations of what lies underneath the pyramid, providing the initial glimpse at these concealed features.
One of the images ‘exhibits a vertically elongated feature with varying intensity distributions, suggesting the presence of a deep well-like formation,’ said Ciccole who has 25 years of experience in forensics.
‘The upper portion of the well reveals patterns indicative of potential helical or spiral formations, which could correspond to a staircase or a sloped passageway.’
She added that
Intense reflections observed in the images indicated ‘discontinuities with structure that might correspond to stepped elements.’
‘Cyclical estimates suggest that the well penetrates deeply beneath the surface, showing significant fluctuations in signals at several depths,’ Ciccole explained, noting this might imply varying materials or compartments at different levels.’
The helical characteristic matches accounts of spiraling descending passageways observed in other ancient constructions.
Professor Conyers concurred that similar spiral-descending shafts can be observed in other ancient constructions like those within the Pyramid of Unas and some Middle Kingdom tombs.
“We assess a correlation confidence ranging from 85 to 90 percent regarding the hypothesis of a helical staircase structure within the well,” stated Ciccole.
The group also thinks these constructions date back approximately 38,000 years, placing them far earlier than any other known human-made structure of similar type by many millennia.
They grounded their assertion on an interpretation of ancient Egyptian texts which they viewed as evidence of a prior advanced society wiped out by a catastrophic occurrence; however, Professor Conyers remarked, “This is quite an extreme notion.”
He mentioned that during that period of human history, around 38,000 years ago, humans were primarily residing in caves.
He stated, “Humans began inhabiting settlements known as cities approximately 9,000 years ago. Prior to this period, there were some sizable villages; however, these existed for just a few millennia leading up to the emergence of true urban centers.”
However, researchers indicated that an earlier civilization probably existed but was wiped out due to a catastrophic occurrence.
The occurrence is a hypothesis suggesting a large asteroid collided with Earth approximately 13,500 years ago.
resulting in global climate shifts and extinctions across the planet
.
Although ice core samples from Greenland and geological evidence from the Atlantic Ocean suggest such an occurrence, scientists have mostly disregarded this idea because they haven’t discovered an impact crater associated with an asteroid.
Scientists think that old Egyptian stories often considered myths might be actual historical accounts of existence prior to a catastrophic occurrence.
They mentioned that Chapter 149 of the Book of the Dead outlines 14 abodes of the divine, which their team understands as evidence suggesting the presence of an advanced civilization preceding dynastic Egypt.
Ciccolo mentioned that the team also utilized the Turn King List, also known as the Royal Canon, an ancient Egyptian document listing the names of rulers such as gods and demigods who allegedly governed Egypt prior to the first documented dynastic period.
Experts suggest that deities and demigods may have been historical rulers who lived long before the earliest known pharaohs.
Ciccolo mentioned that these ancient texts contain a multitude of references indicating that a preexisting civilization inhabited the area prior to a catastrophic event.
