Previously, the 14th edition of the joint Indian-Russian naval drill named Indra, which serves as a key component of the strong maritime cooperation between India and Russia, was scheduled for March 28 to April 2, 2025, near Chennai.

Ever since it began in 2003, Exercise Indra has symbolized the enduring strategic partnership between the two navies.

The drill has transformed into an emblem of maritime collaboration, highlighting both countries’ dedication to improving naval coordination and joint operations efficiency. As per an official announcement, this training consists of two stages: the Harbour stage will take place from March 28-30, 2025, in Chennai, followed by the Sea phase occurring from March 31 to April 2, 2025, within the waters of the Bay of Bengal.

The drill will include vessels from the Russian Navy—Pechenga, Razliv, and Aldar Tsydenzhapov—as well as ships from the Indian Navy: Rana, Kutharr, along with a maritime patrol aircraft, the P-8I.

The purpose of these activities and engagements is to boost maritime collaboration, reinforce bonds of friendship, share superior operational techniques, and fortify diplomatic relations between the two countries. (ANI)
