Barcelona’s defender Jules Kounde voiced his frustration about having to participate in the game against Osasuna in La Liga on Thursday, as this match was rescheduled despite both teams requesting it not be played at that time.
Hansi Flick’s team secured a 3-0 victory, extending their lead to three points atop the standings. However, Kounade stated that scheduling the match for this particular date showed disrespect towards both clubs and players.
Barcelona and Osasuna challenged the ruling to schedule the match for Thursday after the game was originally rescheduled from March 8 due to the passing of a physician connected with the Catalan team; however, their objections were dismissed.
“I am upset about the scheduling of the match; I find this unusual,” Kounde said to DAZN.
I realize that people often struggle to grasp these concepts at times, and we consider ourselves fortunate to be able to engage in such activities… however, I believe it shows disrespect toward the team to proceed with playing the match on this particular day.
Regardless of the club, even Osasuna, who also boast international players… haven’t gotten the rest they require.
On Sunday, Kounde participated in all 120 minutes of France’s match in the Nations League against Croatia. In this game, Osasuna player Ante Budimir also took part representing Croatia.
“The team might be Barcelona, Osasuna, or Real Madrid, and I believe that this goes beyond disrespecting the clubs; it’s also a sign of disrespect towards the players,” added the French defender.
It’s important for them to realize that we aren’t machines, and in order to participate effectively and provide entertainment for the fans, we require proper rest.
I believe all organizations, and not only La Liga, must recognize this.
The Barcelona manager, Hansi Flick, expressed his displeasure over midfielder Dani Olmo getting hurt during the match.
“As I mentioned earlier, it’s not an appropriate time for this game, even post the international break, I feel it wasn’t ideal,” Flick stated to the press.
We have gained an additional three points, however, the cost was very high due to Dani’s injury.
