The term “jardiniere” originates from French, roughly meaning “keeper of the garden,” and these pieces typically served as decorative centerpieces designed to hold floral displays. These specific jardiniers exemplify exceptional European artistry and are anticipated to sell within the range of INR 9,96,000 – 12,00,000.

Adorned with mythological figures and cherubs on both sides, these jardinieres seamlessly blend practicality with beauty, making them ideal for both contemporary and traditional interiors. Lot No. 3, a sideboard styled after the Victorian era, has an estimated selling price of INR 1,25,000 to 2,00,000. This piece showcases a central area bordered by two raised segments adorned with ornate crests depicting floral designs on the rear panels. Auction Lot No. 8 consists of a pair of books focused on ornithological studies in India: “Birds Of An Indian Garden” authored by T Bainbridge Fletcher and Chas M Inglis, along with “The Birds of Southern India,” penned by H R Baker and Chas M Inglis. These volumes were published in 1936 and 1930, respectively, each containing detailed illustrations portraying various avian species found across India.
