Egba people convened in Abeokuta during the yearly Lisabi Festival to commemorate their iconic figure, Lisabi Agbongbo Akala, an intrepid emancipator whose enduring heritage still brings together Egba descendants globally.
This year’s celebration, themed Ègbáliganza 2025, combined cultural pride with contemporary style.
The spectacular conclusion wowed audiences with dazzling fashion presentations showcasing traditional Ofi, Adire, and Afrocentric styles.
Leading personalities such as celebrities from Nollywood, political leaders, and prominent entrepreneurs graced the occasion with their presence, adorning themselves in exquisite aso-oke, agbadas, and intricately designed gele, transforming the gathering into a showcase of Egba cultural legacy.
The Alake of Egbaland along with prominent tribal leaders brought an element of royal splendor, dressed in magnificent robes and coral bead ornaments, showcasing the profound customs of the Egba community.
At the Lisabi Festival 2025, notable attendees included Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, popularly recognized as Governor Dapo Abiodun, who was the 2023 gubernatorial contender for the People’s Democratic Party in Ogun State, alongside Ladi Adebusuyi and Richard Mofe-Damijo.
