…The Minister Expresses Satisfaction Over Your Accomplishments

Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Nigeria’s Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), has praised Caverton Helicopters Company as a trailblazer and industry leader in Nigeria’s aviation sector, setting an example worth following.

During a visit to the state-of-the-art aircraft Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) training center of the company, situated at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos, Lokpobiri made these comments on Wednesday, April 2, 2025.

According to him, the investment and facility on the ground, which are at par with the developed world, have not only distinguished Caverton, the management’s commitment has sent another message acknowledging the untiring effort of Caverton to make Nigeria proud as an indigenous aviation company majoring in Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) as well as a training hub.

The minister stated that he came to witness firsthand what he had frequently heard regarding the training hub, now recognized as the premier destination for pilot education outside Nigeria’s borders. This serves as proof that when equipped with clear vision and dedication, people from Africa can significantly contribute positive advancements within the field of aviation.

I have witnessed training facilities overseas, and I must say Caverton truly distinguishes itself. It leads the way as a pioneer. I feel incredibly delighted to be present here today. Allow me to extend my formal congratulations. Additionally, I’m pleased to learn about your pilots being successfully placed in employment abroad after their training at Caverton.

I want to ensure you that we will take all necessary actions to make sure our partnership succeeds.

“I also applaud your record, to date, of having no casualties,” the minister stated.

Upon arriving earlier, the minister underwent a safety briefing conducted by Caverton Helicopters’ Managing Director, Captain Ibrahim Bello, prior to handing over to the Chairman of the Caverton Offshore Support Group, Mr. Remi Makanjuola, who delivered his welcoming address.

During his welcome speech, Chairman of the Caverton Offshore Support Group, Mr. Aderemi Makanjuola, expressed gratitude to the Honorable Minister for taking the time to visit the training facility and witness firsthand the significant developments within Nigeria’s aviation industry spearheaded by Caverton.

Makanjuola elaborated, “We handle everything from training to maintenance seamlessly. As a proud Nigerian firm, we’ve drawn interest from various quarters due to our ongoing efforts. Our growth and expansion are driven by state-of-the-art technology.”

We are excited about interacting with you and exploring ways we can collaboratively support the advancement and prosperity of Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.”

Mr. Olabode Makanjuola, the CEO of Caverton Offshore Support Group, addressed everyone with welcoming remarks and expressed his honor at hosting the minister as well as demonstrating the company’s infrastructure, activities, and significant contribution to Nigeria’s aviation and oil and gas industries.

As part of the Caverton Offshore Support Group, Caverton Helicopters has become one of the top local operators within Nigeria’s aviation sector. Driven by our dedication to excellence, safety, and dependability, we have achieved an impressive historic market share surpassing 70%. This places us at the forefront of offering logistical assistance to the oil and gas industry. Proudly serving prestigious clients such as Shell, Chevron, Total, NAOC, and NNPC, we continue to uphold this tradition of partnership and cooperation.

Furthermore, Makanjuola stated that the aim of the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration to boost Nigeria’s oil output to 2 million barrels daily is both aspirational and praiseworthy.

At Caverton, we understand that reaching this objective necessitates flawless and effective logistical services, especially within the realm of offshore helicopter transportation. By strategically investing in our inaugural MRO facility, along with hangars and a training center, we are well-equipped to back this initiative successfully.

As we work towards improving our abilities and resources, we look forward to collaborating with the Ministry of Petroleum along with organizations like the NCDMB. By joining forces, we can establish a strong structure that addresses the increasing needs of the oil and gas industry while reinforcing our role as a leading regional service provider promoting local content involvement and growth.

In the upcoming months, we will launch a strategic investment campaign designed to attract fresh investors and boost our operational capabilities. This effort is essential for both our expansion and the broader advancement of Nigeria’s aviation sector.

“We think that by collaborating closely with the government and all industry participants, we can overcome future obstacles and capitalize on upcoming opportunities. Your attendance today reflects our collective dedication to progressing Nigeria’s energy sector, and we are enthusiastic about the potential for partnership,” he said.

On Wednesday, several prominent figures from the industry welcomed the minister.
