‘s passing.
According to Deadline, during a recent interview, the actor discussed how the movie pays tribute to Smith’s legacy and stated, “She was missed, but it seemed to be in her honor somehow. Everyone continued to embody her essence in their performances.”
Giamatti, who first showed up in the series’ Season 4 holiday episode, was taken aback when he was invited to return for the movie.
He hinted that his character, Harold Levinson, plays a substantial part in the film, stating, “What intrigued me was that they approached me at all since I thought my role wasn’t crucial to the narrative,” according toDeadline.
The movie boasts an impressive ensemble, featuring Joely Richardson, Alessandro Nivola, and Simon Russell Beale, along with key actors from the original series.
Gareth Neame, the executive producer, previously mentioned that the movie will feature a “significant” homage to Smith, who played the character Violet Crawley and died in the preceding film.
