Pakistan Penalized for Slow Over-Rate in First ODI Against New Zealand

The team was fined 10 percent of their match fee for falling short by two overs of the required total.

According to the ICC, under Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel concerning minor slow-over rate offenses, players face a penalty equivalent to five percent of their match fee for every over that their team does not complete bowling within the specified timeframe.

Rizwan acknowledged the penalty and admitted guilt regarding the offense, thus negating the necessity of a formal hearing.

The accusation was made by on-field umpires Chris Brown and Paul Reiffel, alongside third umpire Michael Gough and fourth umpire Wayne Knights.

New Zealand
delivered a strong showing in the first match of the ODI series, comfortably securing a 73-run victory in Napier.

Guided by a scorching performance from Mark Chapman, the team set a total of 344 for the loss of 9 wickets, and Nathan Smith’s best-ever bowling figures dismissed them.
