However, Forest’s key player will miss this weekend’s crucial FA Cup match due to a hip injury sustained during New Zealand’s World Cup qualifier against New Caledonia on Monday, which led to his premature departure from the game in the second half.

Nuno has stated that Forest are waiting for the outcome of Wood’s hip examination to get a more precise schedule for his return.

He had a scan today (Thursday), but we’re still awaiting the update,” stated the Portuguese manager. “He visited a specialist for the examination, so now we’re just waiting for the details.

He won’t be around for this match against Brighton. He took quite a fall on his hip, which caused some discomfort, so we need to take our time with him.

In addition to Wood, Forest might also have to do without Paraguayan winger Ramon Sosa, who has scored two goals and contributed one assist for them in the FA Cup this season.

Nuno stated: “Each time we face an international break, the players return in varying states, hence we must evaluate them. Many of them just got here today. We’re awaiting (Ramon) Sosa for tomorrow before we proceed with our assessments.”

After hurting his right hip, Wood stayed positive, believing the problem isn’t very serious.

‘Currently, the discomfort is located (in the right hip),’ Wood stated to journalists on Monday.

‘I experienced it on that side, so I’ll have it inspected. Hopefully, it’s not something serious and it’s just due to an impact.’
