North Korea’s Leader Strongly Backs Russia’s Invasion of Ukraine

The leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un, showed strong backing for Russia’s attack on Ukraine when he met with a high-ranking Russian official in Pyongyang, according to reports from North Korean state media on Saturday.

The meeting between Kim and Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu on Friday came after a South Korean intelligence evaluation in late February suggested that North Korea was likely

to help Russia in its continuing conflict with Ukraine.

Russian and North Korean state media reported that the two officials talked about several topics, such as Moscow’s discussions with the Trump administration and the security conditions on the Korean Peninsula.

Kim and Shoigu allegedly confirmed their respective nations’ leaders remain committed to upholding “unconditional” agreements.

As reported by Pyongyang’s Korean Central News Agency, Kim stated that his administration will “consistently back Russia in its efforts to safeguard its national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security interests.”

Shoigu relayed a message from Russian President Vladimir Putin, who sent his regards to Kim and promised to pay “utmost attention” to carrying out the accords made during their latest meetings.

According to his televised remarks, he conveyed appreciation for North Korea’s “support of Russia’s stance on key geopolitical matters, notably regarding Ukraine.”

Neither North Korean nor Russian media mentioned if any fresh accords were established prior to Shoigu’s departure from Pyongyang on Friday afternoon.
