Nana Tea Empowers Disabled Man with MTN Digital Hero Prize Funds

Renowned Ghanaian social media personality, Nana Tea, has captured attention once more due to his charitable actions, channeling the funds from his MTN Digital Hero of Change award to transform the life of an individual with physical disabilities.

This year earlier, Nana Tea, who goes by the name James Annor Tetteh in his personal life, received the title of MTN Digital Hero of Change due to his extensive history of charitable activities.

To receive the award, the social media personality was awarded a monetary reward of GH¢30,000.

Nevertheless, rather than spending the funds on his own individual desires, he chose to utilize them for a greater effect on the lives of those less fortunate.

In a social media update, Nana Tea mentioned that following receipt of the funds, he gave away 10 percent, which amounted to GH¢3,000, to God as an expression of gratitude for His blessings, including having a dedicated online group that continually backs his charitable efforts.

Of the remaining 90 percent of the prize funds, the social media personality mentioned that he chose to improve the quality of life for a disabled individual named Mr. Tawiah, who appeared old and weak.

As per Nana Tea, Mr Tawiah worked as a herdsman but had to leave the profession following an illness that left him disabled.

Mr. Tawiah moves himself along the floor to handle his own requirements when he doesn’t have a wheelchair or family member nearby to assist him.

In addition to his physical difficulties, Mr Tawiah encountered various financial hardships, residing in a deteriorating structure with leaky ceilings and crumbling walls. The flooring was neither paved nor concrete, and he also rested on a worn-out and extensively used dormitory mattress.

Moved by this, Nana Tea along with his team went to visit Mr. Tawiah, bringing cement and various construction supplies to improve his living situation.

A video posted by Nana Tea showed how the disabled man’s room had been completely changed.

The damaged roof was repaired, the collapsing walls were rebuilt, and the floor was covered with tiles, while both the inside and outside were elegantly painted.

In addition to these, Room 12 of Mr. Tawiah was equipped with contemporary electrical devices such as a smart television, an upright fan, and a refrigerator.

Furthermore, he received a new mattress, an ergonomic chair, a closet, some clothing, personal care products, money, and provisions.

Following the transformation of the room, Mr Tawiah, filled with enthusiasm, expressed gratitude to Nana Tea for assisting him.

He also recognized Jesus as his Lord and personal Savior and was subsequently baptized by Nana Tea and her group.

“Whenever God provides you with an opportunity, utilize it to bring blessings to others! Here’s how I utilized my MTN Digital Hero of Change award (monetary reward) to transform the life of a person with physical disabilities. Most importantly, despite having worldly possessions, he dedicated his life to Christ and got baptized,” Nana Tea shared.

Following the sharing of the story, a Ghanaian social media personality based in the United States, Naana Donkor Arthur (NDA), contacted Nana Tea for assistance with Mr. Tawiah.

“Naana Donkor Arthur – NDA just contacted me and was emotional… she was deeply moved by the elderly man’s tale. She has sent me 5000gh to buy some food supplies and footwear for him. May God greatly reward you, sir,” Nana Tea wrote.
