Pascal told People Magazine, ‘I have quite a strong sense of protection. I feel this way particularly towards those I hold dear. This trait is likely what resonates with me the most.’

Pascal also acknowledged the mental toll that comes with playing a character such as Joel, saying,

This particular experience surpasses all others I have encountered. Separating the emotions of the characters from my own feelings is challenging for me. This unhealthy blurring of boundaries was further explained by him in his statement to People.

So, I guess I could relate to their suffering, which makes me think I had an unbalanced way of thinking.
