Mr. Mbah shared this information during his supervisory visit to the recently finished Emene Primary Health Center on Sunday in Enugu.

According to NAN, his government is building 260 Type Two Primary Health Centers throughout the state; some have been finished, while others are still under construction.

The Emene Primary Health Centre, situated within the Enugu East Local Government Area, was among the health facilities inspected by the governor.

Mr. Mbah reaffirmed his government’s dedication to making sure these facilities provided around-the-clock services.

Every Type Two Primary Health Center will be equipped with round-the-clock electricity, supplied sustainably through renewable sources.

He stated that there would be staff accommodations to guarantee healthcare providers are readily accessible for addressing the community’s medical requirements promptly, as well as ensuring their access to water, sanitation, and hygiene facilities.

Mr. Mbah additionally guaranteed the residents of Emene that a Type Three health care facility will be constructed in their vicinity to supplement the existing Type Two Primary Health Centre (PHC). This development aims to address the community’s requirements stemming from its high population density.

The governor stated that the program was initiated due to concerning data regarding maternal and child death rates, terms he characterized as intolerable.

Mr. Mbah stressed, “We had to move swiftly, which is precisely why our efforts are concentrated on developing operational healthcare centers in both urban and rural regions.”

Moreover, the governor disclosed that comparable efforts were taking place at secondary healthcare institutions, involving the refurbishment of 22 cottage and general hospitals.

He likewise discussed the proposal for an international facility with 300 beds within the state.

“We will attract top-notch medical professionals to provide world-class healthcare services to Enugu people,” Mr Mbah assured.

Mr. Mbah likewise praised Enugu East Chairman, Beloved-Dan Anike, for enrolling 5,000 locals in universal health care coverage and urged other council heads and state employees to do the same.

He encouraged the residents of Emene to claim responsibility for the facility and maintain its ongoing effectiveness.

The Zonal Coordinator at the World Health Organization (WHO) for the South-East region, Chukwumuanya Igboekwu, commended Mr Mbah for rejuvenating the primary health centers within the state and promoting the economic well-being of its residents.

He urged the governor to make universal health care coverage a priority, viewing it as an investment that would profit the state.

The Executive Secretary of the Enugu State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Ifeyinwen Ani-Osheku, referred to Mr Mbah’s contributions to primary health care as both lifesaving and groundbreaking.

She observed that the Emene Primary Health Centre had already enrolled 140 community members and assisted with the birth of two infants, who were named after the governor, all within just three weeks since it began operations.
