The governor of Kebbi State, Dr. Nasir Idris, has praised President Bola Tinubu for setting up the Northwest Development Commission, calling this initiative a significant step towards boosting socioeconomic progress in the area.
On Friday, the governor praised them upon receiving Lawal Ismail-Yakawada, the Chairman of the Commission along with other officials during their courtesy visit at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi.
He observed that establishing this commission will greatly boost infrastructure and agriculture throughout the North-West region, with special emphasis on improvements in Kebbi State. He assured that his government will fully back the commission to ensure it successfully achieves its objectives.
We are completely prepared to assist the North-West Development Commission in every aspect,” said the governor. “I am overjoyed today as I believe this commission will address all crucial needs throughout the area.
To show his backing, Idris declared the contribution of two Hilux vehicles to aid the commission’s activities in Kebbi.
Emphasizing the farming prospects within the state, Idris urged enhanced cooperation with various government agencies as well as nonprofit organizations to boost progress even more.
During his address, NWDC Chairman Ismail-Yakawada highlighted that the purpose of their visit was to obtain the governor’s blessings and establish a robust collaboration between the Kebbi State Government and the commission. He recognized the pivotal position of the state within the commission’s objectives and commended its efforts towards ensuring national food security.

The chairperson of the NWDC also praised Idris for his transformative leadership, highlighting several observable development initiatives throughout the state including road building, installation of street lights, establishment of a contemporary bus station, and the creation of an ultra-modern administrative center.
