The Ministry of Defence has entered into a contract valued at Rs 168.09 Crore with M/s Ashok Leyland Defence Systems Ltd for the procurement of 54 Heavy Recovery Vehicles (HRVs), as per an official statement released by the Ministry of Defence.
The recently acquired HRVs will be essential for recoveringdisabled, stranded, and damaged military vehicles in difficult terrains such as high altitudes and deserts. Equipped with sophisticated lifting and winching systems along with exceptional durability, these vehicles are built to fulfill stringent operational needs.

Designed and built locally, this specialized vehicle will support the Indian government’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative by emphasizing homegrown designs and production, thus decreasing reliance on imported defense equipment.
It is anticipated that incorporating these cutting-edge HRVs will greatly enhance recovery efforts, guaranteeing increased mission success rates and better operational preparedness, the announcement noted. (ANI)
