IGP Summons Emir Sanusi Over Violent Clashes During Kano Sallah Celebrations

The Chief of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has called upon the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, for an interview after a disturbance occurred during the recent Eid-el-Fitr festivities in the region.

The event resulting in the purported death of vigilante Surajo Rabiu and injuries to another, Aminu Suleman, took place when they attacked the Emir’s group right after performing the two Rakat Eid prayers at Kofar Mata prayer area.

Usman Sagiru was arrested by operatives of the Kano Police Command in connection with the attack, which has stirred controversy in the state.

The wounded vigilante was quickly taken to the Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital in Kano for medical care.

The Kano Police Command spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed the incident and stated that the clash erupted when local security personnel were escorting the Emir’s procession back from the place of worship.
