Ho Chi Minh City Falls Off Top 2025 Food Cities List

In Time Out’s 2025 ranking of the globe’s premier culinary destinations, New Orleans has taken the number one position. However, Ho Chi Minh City, which ranked fourth previously, did not make it onto the list this time around.

This year, New Orleans took the first position, with
Bangkok
Medellín was also included. Cape Town and Madrid completed the top five list.

The other cities included in the list are Mexico City, Lagos, and Shanghai.

The rankings were derived from a worldwide poll involving more than 18,500 participants who assessed their cities’ culinary landscapes using 18 different metrics such as cost-effectiveness and overall quality. Extra perspectives came from groups of editors, restaurant reviewers, and professional cooks; however, just the top-performing metropolis within each nation was included in the ultimate roster.

Even though Ho Chi Minh City was not included in the 2025 rankings, it continues to be a top culinary destination.

In the previous year, the international food magazine TasteAtlas recognized it as one of the globe’s premier culinary destinations. The 2024 Michelin Guide further highlights the city’s prominence with three establishments receiving coveted Michelin stars.
