From Shaving Foam Chaos to Explosive Ratings: Choi Daniel and Ji Ye-eun Ignite ‘Running Man’ with a Tiki-Taka Twist

Runners have experienced a fresh breeze as of late. Choi Daniel, making his debut appearance with strikingly authentic looks, transitioned seamlessly from vlogging to being playfully humiliated. Meanwhile, Ji Ye-eon’s segment about weight discussions had audiences chuckling through the ever-popular tiki-taka challenge.

On the episode that aired on the 6th, SBS’ “Running Man” garnered significant interest by revealing that actor Choi Daniel would be joining as a new recurring member. The show secured the top spot in the entertainment category for simultaneous broadcasts, achieving a viewership rate of 2.7% among the 2049 demographic, with peak ratings reaching an impressive 6.2% during certain minutes.

In this episode of ‘New Family’, Yoo Jae-suk, Ha-ha, and Yang Se-chan unexpectedly showed up at Choi Daniel’s house around 2 p.m., thinking their visit had been pre-recorded. When Choi Daniel arrived, looking disheveled with wild hair and a beard, he presented quite the spontaneous appearance, eliciting shocked reactions from the group. They exclaimed, “Have you come directly from the island?” In an attempt to fully awaken him, Yoo Jae-suk eventually sprayed shaving cream on his face.

Choi Daniel showed up with a mark on his abdomen, exclaiming, “What’s happening?” This marked the creation of the very first vlog by the newest and most vulnerable addition to broadcasting history. Upon reaching the location after numerous ups and downs, he conducted a brief welcome ritual and announced his official entry.

However, the true competition had only just started. During their second assignment titled ‘Running Man Navillera,’ Choi Daniel and Ji Ye-eon displayed remarkable synergy. While assessing weights for the Hengarae challenge, Ji Ye-eon mentioned “I weigh 45kg,” yet Choi Daniel countered with “At 172 cm tall, I’d say around 59kg.” This led to an awkward moment of silence. Annoyed, Ji Ye-eon questioned him about his statement: “So what’s your idea of 58 kg?” He responded playfully, asking her if she planned on losing some extra pounds. His lighthearted approach brought unexpected cheerfulness to the literary studio.

At the start of the mission, when the team hoisted Ji Ye-eun up, they all remarked, “There’s something different.” Yoo Jae-seok then expressed his discomfort saying, “I think I’m going to be sick.” The discussion about Ji Ye-eun’s weight quickly escalated into an intense debate. Ultimately, Choi Daniel settled the matter by selecting sundae gukbap as their lunch option.
