Forecasting the Indianapolis Colts’ 2025 Starting Offense Post-Free Agency

Now that free agency has wrapped up, what could be the next developments?
Indianapolis Colts
What will starting offenses look like in 2025?

Of course, the point remains that the NFL draft is yet to happen, and regardless of whether it focuses on offense or defense, more players will likely join the team’s lineup.

However, based on our current knowledge and making some informed assumptions, let’s forecast who will be on the field on offense for the
Colts
come Week 1.

Quarterback:

Anthony Richardson

It’s an open competition for the Colts starting quarterback job, but until we get into the weeds of training camp and the preseason and see how things are unfolding, this is still Richardson’s job. We saw Richardson elevate his game last season after being benched, and it is in the Colts’ best interest that he does that again this summer.

Running back:

Jonathan Taylor

A clear pick here. The main query regarding the running backs is who will secure the backup role? Could it be Khalil Herbert, or might it be a player chosen in the upcoming NFL draft?

Tight end:

Colston Loveland

The starting tight end position doesn’t have anyone confirmed on the roster just yet. Thus, our prediction involves some uncertainty. My belief is that Tyler Warren might not be available when the Colts make their selection with the 14th pick, which would leave Loveland as a potential choice for them.

Offensive line:

Lt Bernhard Raiman, Lt Gen Quenton Nelson, Capt Tanor Bortolini,Rnd Geoff Matt Goncalves, Rt Braden Smith

Due to Will Fries’ departure, some adjustments will be necessary. Goncalves started out as a tackle throughout his collegiate and initial NFL years; however, General Manager Chris Ballard noted post-drafting him that he thinks Goncalves could also excel as a guard. The team still requires additional support for both guard and tackle positions.

Wide receiver:

Michael Pittman, Josh Downs, Alec Pierce

This position group seems quite simple. AD Mitchell should also join the mix as he aims for progress in his sophomore year; however, Pittman, Downs, and Pierce are expected to get most of the playing time.
