Fassell FC Inches Closer to Top Division Crown with Tight Victory Over Heaven Eleven

Fassell FC made considerable progress towards clinching their maiden Liberia Football Association First Division championship by increasing their advantage to nine points after defeating Heaven Eleven 1-0 on March 30.

Even though they played most of the match short-handed, Fassell FC managed to hold firm, thanks to Lawrence Kumeh finding the back of the net in the 41st minute.

Kumeh, omitted from Thomas Kojo’s Lone Star team for the World Cup qualifiers, scored shortly before halftime, providing Fassell with a vital advantage.

Despite Heaven Eleven applying significant pressure and pushing hard throughout the match, Fassell’s side managed to maintain their defensive stability. Even after losing Sekou Kamara to a red card in the first half, reducing them to ten men, the team demonstrated remarkable resilience against Heaven Eleven’s persistent attacks.

Thanks to this victory, Fassell FC has accumulated 47 points and sits atop the leaderboard, whereas Heaven Eleven stays in second place with 38 points. The upcoming fixtures for Fassell consist of encounters with teams such as Invincible Eleven (IE), LPRC Oilers, LISCR FC, and Shaita FC. Securing a win against the struggling IE on Wednesday might clinch the title for Fassell.

CEO Cassell Kouh conveyed his enthusiasm regarding the team’s advancement, stating, “We can sense the scent of the CAF Champions League. It’s been our collective dream, and we’re nearly within reach.”

Fassell FC needs just four more points from their last four matches to secure the 2024-2025 LFA First Division League championship.
