People living in Adidaase within the Wassa Amenfi District of the Western Region were shocked after learning that a well-known local farmer was accused of killing his six-year-old child as part of a ritual involving money.
Farmer Abdul Salam, aged 31, is accused of killing his son by supposedly cutting off his head with a knife.
The individual is reportedly accused of cutting off the child’s feet and concealing the corpse within a shrubbery.
At the same time, the father notified authorities about the child’s disappearance, and a group was organized to search for him.
“But we had no idea that his own father was responsible for his death,” some members of the expedition revealed.
They noted that after thoroughly searching the whole agricultural village without locating the young boy, they realized they needed to question the father again.
“During the questioning, Abdul Salam admitted to killing his son. He further mentioned that he intended to utilize the detached head and feet for monetary rites,” they revealed.
They struggled to understand why Salam would carry out such a terrible crime. “If he had received the money, would he have taken pleasure in it after murdering his son?” they asked.
The individual under suspicion was transferred to the Asankragwa police, who further stated that Salam confessed to murdering his son.
