MANILA, Philippines — On Friday, the Department of Health (DOH) reported recording 76,425 dengue cases between January 1 and March 15 this year, marking an uptick of 78% compared to the corresponding timeframe in 2023.
According to the DOH, Calabarzon reported the most cases with 15,108 instances; this was followed by the National Capital Region with 13,761 cases and Central Luzon with 12,424 cases.

The majority of cases involve patients who are 14 years old and younger; however, the death rate stays quite low at just 1%, the agency further noted.
“The Department of Health reported that patients who died due to dengue between January 1 and March 15, 2025, showed symptoms more often,” according to an announcement made via a video shared on their official Facebook page.

“That’s why the DOH keeps urging everyone to promptly take people showing symptoms to the closest health facility or dengue fast lane,” it further stated.
The organization stated that signs of dengue comprise abdominal pain, hemorrhaging, retching, and weariness.
Recently, the Department of Health has launched dengue express lanes at all its facilities across the country to ensure prompt medical care for individuals showing symptoms of the disease.
Recently, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation increased its reimbursement rate for serious dengue-related hospitalizations by 193%, now offering up to ₱47,000, compared to the earlier limit of ₱16,000.
