Bangladeshi man separated from family, appeals for global attention on prosecution of minorities

, says he has been living in fear and hiding for over seven months in India, claiming that he is unable to return home due to rising communal violence in his home country.

Majumdar, who had earlier moved his family to India, was compelled to return them back.

, placing him in a precarious and ambiguous position.

“I have not been home since August 5, 2024. My family was with me in India for some time, but I had to send them back. Now, I live in constant fear, avoiding public places because anything could happen at any time,” Majumdar said on Thursday, appealing for global attention on the situation.

As per his statement, the circumstances for Hindus in
Bangladesh
has deteriorated significantly.

“In the past, we were much safer. But now, mob justice is taking lives in broad daylight, even in front of the authorities,” he said. Reports of attacks on minority communities in

have raised concerns among human rights organisations.

Leaving his family behind has emotionally drained Majumdar, making it impossible for him to help them with their medical problems.

“My young daughter often tells me with tears, ‘Daddy, I haven’t seen you in ages.’ Each time she says this, it brings moisture to my eyes. Meanwhile, my mother remarks, ‘Your return would improve my diabetes,’ yet her health continues to decline,” he confided.

Faced with an imminent lack of solutions, Majumdar has earnestly appealed to the global community, stating, “I genuinely urge all the influential countries worldwide to take notice of what is occurring in

Human rights advocates have consistently demanded better safeguards for minority groups.
