This year, Amazon’s highly popular Prime Day event will be extended to double its typical duration.
The yearly sales event — set to mark its tenth year in 2025 — will extend from two to four days.
This information came to light through a communication sent from the retailer to individual vendors, which account for over fifty percent of Amazon’s revenue.
New additions expected for this year’s event include Prime-Exclusive Best Deals and Prime-Exclusive Lightning Deals, offering products with discounts of up to 40 percent off.
Although Amazon hasn’t officially announced the dates, Prime Day usually occurs in both July and October.
Walmart
hosted a comparable four-day Walmart Deals event in the previous year, whereas
Target
‘S Circle Week continued for seven days.
“Over 200 million products were sold by independent sellers such as yourself during Prime Day 2024, making it the most successful shopping event for Prime members so far,” stated Amazon.

In 2025, we realized that two days were simply not sufficient. This year, we’re thrilled to present a prolonged 4-day event, providing additional shopping time for our customers to explore and take advantage of millions of deals.
Retail experts suggest that this shift might increase Amazon’s profit margins during times of economic instability.
‘Senior equity analyst Arun Sundram stated that with customers looking for more bargains due to worries about tariffs and inflation, extending the duration of the event might lead to increased participation.’

Neil Saunders, who leads the retail division at GlobalData as their managing director, explained to LFHCK ID that this extension “is essentially a reaction to customer preferences and market competition.”
Regarding consumers, buyers are highly attentive to prices and react well to discounts and promotions. He added, ‘Whenever Amazon holds such events, there’s an increase in both website traffic and sales.’
Saunders pointed out that another aspect of this expansion is its potential to boost sales for the e-commerce site.
He mentioned that nearly all other retailers run promotions during Prime Day, with many extending for about a week.
‘Amazon’s elongated Prime Day is its answer to the prolonged sales events conducted by competitors.’
In July 2015, Amazon introduced Prime Day to mark the organization’s 20th year in business.
It went on for 24 hours across nine nations, encompassing the US, the UK, and Canada.
The event offers exclusive time-limited discounts for Prime members aiming to find excellent bargains across various product categories.
It turned into one of Amazon’s biggest attractions, starting with its October Prime Day event in 2017.
In October 2022, the firm introduced a second two-day Prime Day event, currently accessible in more than 20 nations.
Last year, during Prime Day, sales brought in $14.2 billion in revenue, marking an 11.8 percent growth from what was recorded in 2023.
Following its success, Amazon launched the
Big Spring Sale
, which is currently ongoing until March 31.
This spring event is accessible to every shopper, unlike Prime Day, which is restricted to Amazon Prime members.
Last year, Amazon faced criticism following its announcement to display ads within its Prime Video content.
The reported increase in advertisements over the past year apparently annoyed customers, who claimed it was ‘

This alteration did not prevent Amazon from recording $638 billion in net sales for 2024, marking an 11 percent rise compared to the previous year’s figure.
Earlier this year, Amazon faced criticism following its announcement that it planned to discontinue its

To date, experts forecast that the firm will see substantial revenues in 2025; however, they anticipate this growth will be at a more moderate pace compared to what was observed in 2024.
Amazon has chosen not to comment on the extended Prime Day event.
