Air Peace Launches Lagos–São Paulo Route as Tinubu Finalizes Brazil Aviation Deal

Air Peace has achieved a significant breakthrough in Nigerian air travel by launching a non-stop journey between São Paulo and Lagos, transporting officials from Nigeria’s delegation along with business executives from Brazil.

The journey comes under a significant air transport deal finalized in Brasília, which was observed by President Bola Tinubu.

On Wednesday, an image of the agreement document and a clip featuring the Minister of Aviation speaking about the first flight were posted on X by the Nigerian Presidency’s official account, emphasizing the significance of this achievement.

According to the Presidency, the flight shows that “Nigerian airlines are capable of competing on international routes, and that Nigeria’s collaborations produce quick, visible outcomes.”

According to the deal, two Nigerian airlines—Air Peace and Cavertin—are scheduled to start operating passenger flights and freight services, respectively, between Lagos and São Paulo during the final three months of 2025.

The test flight indicates Nigeria’s preparedness to implement the corridor and highlights the ability of local businesses to transform governmental accords into tangible efforts.

The Minister for Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, highlighted the importance of non-stop flights, stating, “A trip that once required almost 20 hours via Europe or the Middle East will now be much shorter thanks to direct services provided by Air Peace.”

He additionally revealed that Air Peace has placed an order for 21 Embraer aircraft from Brazil, enhancing the relationship between the two countries in terms of air travel and commerce.

The chairman and chief executive officer of Air Peace, Allen Onyema, commended Tinubu and governmental authorities for enabling this significant achievement, saying, “The President has unlocked the gateway to Nigeria’s future. Rather than spending two days traveling to Brazil, we now enjoy direct connectivity to South America’s biggest economy, much like Nigeria remains at the forefront of Africa. Mutual support is essential, and this collaboration promises substantial prospects.”

The flight path from Lagos to São Paulo is anticipated to enhance commerce, financial investments, travel opportunities, and mutual cultural interaction between Nigeria and Brazil.

It plays a central role in Tinubu’s Rekindled Hopes Initiative, designed to explore fresh markets, enhance collaboration among Southern nations, and provide prospects for Nigerian enterprises and tourists.
